Founded in 1914 by Austrian immigrant Jonas

Eisenberg as a ready-to-wear dress company,

Eisenberg’s clothes were sometimes embellished

with beautifully designed and crafted rhinestone clips

and pins. The bling eventually proved more popular

than the dresses and the company’s focus shifted

solely to sumptuous jewelry designs. To gauge their

popularity consider their 1940’s era retail pricing

of $50 - $100 when a woman’s weekly salary was

just $30 - $40. Eisenberg jewelry remains a coveted

collectible with pieces selling for hundreds of dollars.

A major collection even garnered a serious auction at

Sotheby’s

Historian Susan Klein Bagdade will present on

the unique trajectory of the Eisenberg company.
